Admissions are open to children of Federal Government employees; residents of the Capital Territory; and the children of diplomats stationed at Islamabad. Class I and Class XI (HSSC Part-I) are the entry points for admission in IMCB G-10/4.
a) CLASS- PREP & I
Federal Directorate of Education (MC) conducts through a specially constituted Admission Committee admissions to class-Prep & I for all Model institutions of Islamabad on centralized basis. Candidates seeking admission are tested/interviewed at the respective Model Colleges separately for boys and girls.
Admission Notice is advertised in the leading newspapers of Islamabad and Rawalpindi in February/March each year. Children who have attained the age of 4 years or 4+ but less than 5 years on the 31st March are eligible for admission in Prep class and 5 years or 5+ but less than 6 years on 31 March are eligible for admission. Relaxation in age is not allowed.
ii) TEST AND INTERVIEW
Children who fulfil the conditions of eligibility specified in the Admission Notice and have been registered are called for test/interview. Tests in English, Urdu, Mathematics and general intelligence/aptitude are conducted. Admission is granted strictly on merit.
b) CLASS II TO CLASS X
i) REGISTRATION / ADMISSION TEST
Candidates are registered for admission subject to availability of seats in respective classes. Federal Government employees seeking admission for their children on transfer basis have to produce relevant documents of transfer substantiating their claim.
Registering candidates are then given Admission Test in the subjects mentioned below against each class:
II TO V
English, Urdu and Mathematics
VI TO VIII
English, Urdu, Mathematics and General Science
IX TO X
English, Urdu, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Computer Science
c) HSSC PART-I
Admission notice is published in the leading English and Urdu newspapers of Islamabad /Rawalpindi after declaration of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) result by Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE), Islamabad.
Registration Forms are issued according to the schedule published in the newspapers. Submission of Admission forms requires adherence to the following conditions:
Registration for each group, i.e., Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering is done separately
Registration in a particular group for Morning Shift maybe considered for admission in the Evening Shift if mentioned specifically on the Registration For separate subject combinations in the two shifts, separate registration will be required.Candidates applying for registration in Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering must have passed SSC/GCE/O-Level examinations in science subjects.
ii) SEATS AGAINST VARIOUS CATEGORIES/ISLAMABAD MODEL COLLEGES
Bonafide students of the Institutions(60%)
Real sons of teachers/emlpoyees(01 seat in every institution in order of of the concerned set-up)
iii) MINIMUM MARKS FOR EACH GROUP

Such candidates belonging to IMCB who have not been able to secure requisite marks to qualify for the merit in the Morning Shift shall be accorded preference in the Evening Shift.Remaining seats in the Evening shift will be offered to the registered candidates from other institution on open merit

vi) TRANSFER FROM EVENING TO MORNING SHIFT
No claim is entertained from students who have been admitted in the Evening Shift for their transfer to the Morning Shift.
Father/guardian of each student joining the College in the Evening Shift shall have to furnish an “Undertaking” not to request transfer of his son/ward to Morning Shift under any circumstances throughout the academic career of his son/ward in the College

Syllabi and courses prescribed by the Bureau of Curriculum, Ministry of CAAD, are followed
b) CLASSES IX TO XII
Courses are offered in accordance with the syllabi prescribed by the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education(FBISE), Islamabad
Medium of Instruction
Islamabad Model College for Boys (IMCB) practices English as a medium of instruction for all classes and for all subject/groups. A change of medium is, however, permissible in special cases only in such disciplines as Pakistan Studies or Islamic Education which have the prior approval of the Federal Board of Intermediate and secondaryEducation(FBISE), Islamabad.
